Ahhhh. The sensation of arriving in a new city. That urge to explore it and make the most out of your time there. The excitement of making new memories, adventures to live, photos to take and places that will leave an impression. Which traveller passionate for anurban adventure doesn’t feel such joy?
When you’re heading to a city for the first time, big or small, here are sometraveling tips that will certainly make a lot of difference for yoururban travels. Here’s how to make the most of it:
Stay central
No matter which type of accommodation you pick, staying central is one of the best decisions you can make on your urban trip. It makes everything easier when it comes to getting around town and on top that, it optimises your time. It may mean a little extra cost on your budget, but it’s all worth it especially if you’re not planning to stay long.
Know how to get around
Whichever you prefer, either technology or a simple paper map, try to get a glimpse of how you will move around the city. Will you need to take a taxi, an underground train, or can you get around by simply walking? What about alternative transportation? What about directions? If you already know your way, great! If you don’t, plan a little ahead. This way, you won’t waste your time trying to get from A to B.
Get tips from locals
There is no better way to discover new places than tips from the locals. Whether it’s a restaurant, traveling tips or anything off the beaten track. It can help you save time, money and even discover places you’ve never heard of. Check out our these city guides ready forFlorida,Ho Chi Minh,Sochi,Tokyo, and Vientiane to get yourself started.
Plan which attractions you want to visit
It might seem simple, but make a list of attractions you want to visit and the things you want to do. Not only that, include their respective addresses and opening times. Last but not least, locate them on the city map and plan your trip accordingly. This is an effective way to make sure you won’t miss anything by making the most out of your time.Travel planner apps such as TripIt are also a great way to maximise your time and travels, by buying tickets in advance and beating the queue.
Stay safe
At anywhere and anytime, be aware of schemes, theft, pick-pockets, dangerous zones, and protect yourself and your belongings. Be it your luggage at the airport, your backpack, wallet and gadgets while walking around the city. You don’t want to ruin your plans and your entire trip for not being careful enough, especially with your cash and passport. Keep them safe when you are on the move. These are some of theanti-theft bags with security features that I have found online.
Plan. Pack. Travel. Most of all, enjoy yoururban adventure!
